About Us
At Ad Light Group, we bring brands to life through high-impact architectural signage, custom fabrication, and experiential graphic design. From intricate interior signage packages and civic wayfinding to massive custom monument signs, our team combines design precision with hands-on technical craftsmanship.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented Junior Sign Designer to join our fast-paced design team. If you are passionate about visual design, eager to learn technical sign fabrication processes, and excited to see your digital concepts built in the real world, this is a great opportunity to grow your career!
What You’ll Do
- Technical Shop Drawings: Translate design concepts, client briefs, and brand standards into clean vector production files and structured technical shop drawings for architectural signage.
- Environmental & Architectural Graphics: Assist in designing interior/exterior signage packages, wayfinding systems, custom monument signage, and vinyl/graphics applications.
- Vector & Asset Preparation: Prepare and organize production-ready vector assets (preparing cut files, cleaning vector art, organizing layers) for CNC routing, laser cutting, and UV flatbed printing.
- Code & Compliance Learning: Collaborate with experienced team members to learn and apply local municipal sign codes, structural mounting specifications, and ADA braille/signage standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside project managers, sales teams, and in-house fabrication leads to ensure designs align with production capabilities, budgets, and project schedules.
What We’re Looking For
- Education & Experience: Degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Visual Communications, or equivalent practical experience / strong design portfolio.
- Core Software Skills: Proficiency in vector design software (Adobe Illustrator required). Familiarity or interest in 3D CAD modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, or SolidWorks) is a plus.
- Foundational Fabrication & Material Awareness: General interest in or exposure to sign industry materials (acrylic, aluminum, metals, LEDs) and basic production/printing techniques (UV flatbed printing, clear coats, paint finishes).
- Lighting & Electrical Concepts (Eager to Learn):
o Illuminated Assemblies & Power Systems: Basic understanding or willingness to learn low-voltage LED lighting systems, driver/power supply configurations, and custom sign enclosure integration.
o Codes, Compliance & Safety: General awareness of electric sign standards and electrical safety codes and weatherproofing considerations.
- Code & Spatial Literacy: Interest in learning ADA signage guidelines, municipal sign codes, structural mounting details, and architectural plan reading.
- Detail & Problem Solving: Solid grasp of typography, layout, scale, and spatial relationships, with an eagerness to balance aesthetics with physical design constraints.
What We Offer
- Competitive starting compensation with structured career growth.
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits program.
- Paid time off (PTO) and paid company holidays.
- Direct mentorship from experienced designers and hands-on exposure to our in-house fabrication shop.
