Software Engineer

Job Description

Active Bridge is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain reliable web applications and cloud-based software solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong programming skills, experience with modern development frameworks, and the ability to collaborate with technical teams to deliver scalable, high-quality software.

In this role, you will contribute to application development projects, implement new features, improve existing systems, and integrate software components to meet business requirements. You will follow established development practices and help ensure application performance, maintainability, and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain web applications and software systems.
• Write clean, reusable, and maintainable code.
• Develop backend services and application programming interfaces (APIs).
• Build and maintain database-driven applications.
• Collaborate with developers, designers, and project stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot software defects and improve application performance.
• Participate in code reviews and automated testing.
• Integrate third-party services and external systems.
• Maintain technical documentation and development standards.
• Support software deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
• Participate in Agile planning, development, and review activities.
• Apply software engineering best practices to improve code quality and reliability.

Requirements

• Experience in software engineering or application development.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Ruby, JavaScript, Python, or Java.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles.
• Familiarity with databases, APIs, and web application architecture.
• Knowledge of version control tools such as Git.
• Experience with debugging, testing, and maintaining software applications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Ruby on Rails and backend web development.
• Familiarity with React or other modern front-end frameworks.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar database systems.
• Experience with AWS, Google Cloud, or other cloud platforms.
• Understanding of test-driven development and automated testing.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban.
• Experience developing scalable web applications and integrating APIs.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
