Systems Software Engineer

Job Description

Activ Financial Systems is seeking a skilled Systems Software Engineer to develop, optimize, and maintain high-performance software systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in systems programming, software architecture, and performance optimization, with the ability to build reliable applications for demanding, data-intensive environments.

In this role, you will collaborate with software engineers and technical teams to improve system performance, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and develop software components that support efficient and dependable operations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain systems-level software components.
• Write efficient, reliable, and maintainable code for performance-sensitive applications.
• Analyze system behavior to identify bottlenecks and optimize CPU, memory, and resource utilization.
• Troubleshoot complex software defects and investigate system-level issues.
• Develop and maintain interfaces, APIs, and integrations between software components.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and architecture planning.
• Build automated tests and debugging tools to improve software reliability.
• Support software releases, deployments, maintenance, and performance monitoring.
• Work with operating systems, networking components, and concurrent processing as needed.
• Maintain technical documentation and follow established engineering standards.
• Apply secure coding practices and contribute to system stability and resilience.

Skills and Experience

• Experience in software engineering, systems programming, or a related technical role.
• Proficiency in C++, C, Java, or another systems-oriented programming language.
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and memory management.
• Familiarity with multithreading, concurrency, networking, and performance profiling.
• Experience with Linux or other Unix-like environments is an advantage.
• Knowledge of debugging tools, automated testing, and version control systems such as Git.
• Understanding of software architecture and performance optimization techniques.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts and collaborate with engineering teams.

Compensation
