Job description

About this role

An established financial firm is adding to its data team as the business continues to invest in its analytics capabilities. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data but also wants to understand the business behind it.

The position offers a lot of visibility and interaction with senior-level stakeholders. Rather than sitting behind the scenes building reports, you'll work closely with business partners to understand their needs, develop solutions, and turn complex data into information that drives decisions.

What You'll Get to Work On

  • Build interactive Power BI dashboards and reporting tools that give business leaders better visibility into performance and trends.
  • Work with large financial datasets, identifying patterns, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Use SQL to extract, manipulate, and organize data from multiple sources.
  • Develop data models and business logic to support reporting and analytics.
  • Help improve how data is collected, structured, and used across the organization.
  • Find ways to streamline manual reporting and introduce automation.
  • Explore opportunities to incorporate AI and LLM tools into analytics and existing workflows.
  • Partner with different teams to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.

Technical Background & Experience

  • 2+ years working in a data-focused environment, ideally within analytics, BI, or financial services.
  • Hands-on experience developing dashboards and reporting solutions using Power BI.
  • Advanced Excel capabilities and experience handling complex financial data.
  • Familiarity with building data models, creating relationships between datasets, and supporting ETL processes.
  • Exposure to cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or Microsoft Fabric.
  • Experience or interest in leveraging AI, LLMs, and automation to improve reporting and analytics workflows.
  • Comfortable working directly with business stakeholders and translating business needs into technical solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Additional Details

  • Chicago-based opportunity.
  • Collaborative, growing team.
  • High visibility and direct interaction with senior leadership.
  • Opportunity to help build and improve the firm's analytics capabilities.
