About this role
About A2Z Sync
A2Z Sync is building the operating system for U.S. automotive retail — a market measured in trillions, still operating on disconnected, decades-old systems. We replace that friction with the velocity of a single platform, integrating digital insights with in-store operations to deliver transparent transactions for car buyers and increased profitability for dealers.
We are a Series A, SaaS company experiencing tremendous growth. We are transitioning from a traditional SaaS company into an AI-native one — and we are doing it from Denver with a small, sharp team that ships fast and plays hard. This role sits in our Denver office and requires 3 days per week in-office.
Why This Role Exists
Our finance function is small, fast, and forever evolving forward. The infrastructure is in place — automated reporting, a governed data layer, department P&Ls that publish the day the books close. What we need now is someone to own the models and the monthly analysis that run on top of it: the forecast, cost of revenue, margin, and variance work that keeps our numbers right and explains what is moving.
This is a hands-on, build-it role. You will own driver-based models end to end, find the cost trends before they compound, and take manual work out of the monthly cycle so more of your time goes to analysis. You will work directly with the Director of Finance and partner closely with accounting and revenue operations.
You won’t be siloed in one slice of the business — this seat touches every line of the P&L.
If you want a role where the models are already built and the questions are already framed, this is not it.
[[JD_HEADING:What You’ll Own
Forecasting & Models]]
Own the models: Build and maintain the driver-based models behind the forecast — subscription revenue, integration costs, hosting, and OPEX. Keep them versioned and auditable.
Monthly forecast updates
Roll actuals into the forecast every month, with a clear record of what changed and why.
Scenario and sensitivity analysis
Stress-test the forecast against ramp, churn, and cost assumptions so we see the range, not just the point estimate.
Headcount and contractor modeling
Model timing, vacancy impact, and fully loaded cost.
Revenue inputs
Partner with revenue operations on go-live timing and churn inputs, and reconcile the revenue forecast to actuals each month.
Cost of Revenue, Hosting & Operating Expense
Integration and vendor costs: Own the analysis behind third-party integration and data costs — a core cost-of-revenue driver of the business. Monitor variance by vendor and flag drift before it compounds.
Hosting cost
Monitor cloud infrastructure spend with in-month early reads, not post-close surprises.
Operating expense
Track software, vendor, and contractor spend against budget; produce department-level opex variance with commentary that explains cause rather than restating magnitude.
Margin analysis
Maintain gross margin by revenue stream, along with unit economics and cost-to-serve models.
Reporting & Variance Analysis
Budget vs. actuals: Deliver company and department-level BVA every close, with review time reserved before distribution.
Variance commentary
Draft the monthly narrative — what moved, why, and what it means for the rest of the year.
Dashboards
Maintain and extend the department dashboard suite so it stays self-serve and always current.
Close support
Partner with accounting on department-level actuals and classification so every number ties across the GL, the platform, and every report that cites it.
Data integrity
Run validation and quality checks across revenue, cost of revenue, and opex before anything leaves finance.
Automate the repetitive
Every hour you take out of the monthly cycle is an hour redeployed to analysis. Find them and take them out — with AI tools, scripts, or better models.
KPIs & Business Insight
KPI reporting: Maintain the company metric set — ARR/MRR, NRR, churn, gross margin, and cost per dealer — with clear definitions and calculations everyone works from.
Monthly KPI pack
Produce the monthly metrics package with trends and a short read on what moved, ready for the Director of Finance to take to leadership.
Unprompted insight
Bring the analysis nobody asked for when the data warrants it — the trend that changes a decision before it shows up in the P&L.
What You Bring
Required
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of progressive FP&A, corporate finance, or accounting experience, including direct ownership of a forecast or model.
- Experience in a SaaS, subscription, or recurring-revenue business, with a working command of SaaS metrics — ARR/MRR, NRR, churn, gross margin, and cost of revenue.
- Experience building budget vs. actuals and variance analysis at the department level.
- Advanced Excel / Google Sheets — driver-based modeling, scenario analysis, and large data manipulation (pivot tables, XLOOKUP / INDEX-MATCH).
- Demonstrated ability to build a model someone else can pick up — clean, versioned, and auditable.
- Strong written communication: you can explain a variance in two sentences to someone who does not work in finance.
- Experience using automation in finance workflows, along with curiosity about applying AI tools such as Claude, Gemini, or similar technologies to analysis and process improvement.
- A self-starter: you see a problem, jump on it, and can take an undefined question and come back with a framework.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities without dropping balls.
- Able to work 3 days per week on-site in Denver.
Preferred
- Experience automating a recurring report, model, or reporting process.
- Prior experience at a high-growth startup, technology company, or SaaS environment.
- Background in automotive retail, dealer technology, or another vertical SaaS with usage- and implementation-driven revenue.
- Experience with our stack or similar tools: Rillet, Ramp, HubSpot, BambooHR, Carta.
Benefits
Why You'll Like It Here
- Green field. Much of what you will own does not exist yet. You get to define it, not inherit it.
- Visibility with leadership from month one — your analysis goes in front of the people making the decisions.
- Direct exposure to a Series A company's full planning cycle — board reporting, pricing, unit economics, and capital allocation.
- A Director who treats you as a partner, not a deliverable factory. You'll get coaching, not micromanagement.
- A culture that genuinely embraces AI as a force multiplier — your work scales with the tools you bring.
- Finance infrastructure that is already automated — you will spend your time on analysis, not assembly.
- Hybrid flexibility (3 days in-office)
Our Values: We Are DRIVEN
- Dealership Obsessed: We measure our success by the dealer's wins and the trust of their buyers, not just our own code.
- Relentless Ownership: No lone wolves, but no pass-backs either. We don't say "that's not my job."
- Invent with Purpose: We don't chase shiny tech. We replace guesswork with intelligence, building the data backbone that turns raw information into a competitive advantage.
- Value Every Perspective: We are Better Together. We check egos at the door.
- Evolve or Evaporate: Change is our constant. We stay ahead by learning faster than the competition.
- Now Over Next: Perfection is the enemy of progress. We prefer action over endless analysis.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual performance bonus eligibility.
- Equity participation
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits.
- Employer-provided short-term and long-term disability and life insurance.
- Matching 401(k) plan.
- Unlimited paid time off, plus 10 paid holidays.
- Ongoing professional development reimbursement.
- The expected salary range for this role is $83,000 to $113,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
