About the Role
We are looking for a talented and motivated Backend Software Engineer with strong Java development experience to join our engineering team and contribute to building scalable, reliable, and high-performance software platforms.
In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain backend services that support vehicle data management, telemetry processing, simulation orchestration, and intelligent software applications. You will work with modern technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, microservices, Apache Kafka, SQL databases, and cloud infrastructure to build systems capable of processing large volumes of data efficiently.
You will collaborate with software engineers, product managers, and cross-functional engineering teams to develop innovative solutions that support the next generation of autonomous and software-defined vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build and enhance microservices-based architectures to support distributed applications and enterprise platforms.
- Develop RESTful APIs and backend services for vehicle data management, telemetry processing, and simulation workflows.
- Implement asynchronous and event-driven processing using Apache Kafka and related messaging technologies.
- Work with relational and NoSQL databases to design efficient data models, queries, and storage solutions.
- Develop reliable data processing workflows to handle large volumes of vehicle telemetry and simulation data.
- Collaborate with frontend, infrastructure, and data engineering teams to integrate backend services with other platform components.
- Deploy, monitor, and maintain applications in cloud environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, debugging, and performance optimization.
- Write clean, maintainable, reusable, and well-tested code while following software engineering best practices.
- Contribute to continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes to improve development efficiency and software quality.
- Identify technical challenges and recommend solutions that improve application performance, scalability, and reliability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2+ years of professional software development experience, preferably building backend applications.
- Strong programming experience with Java and object-oriented programming concepts.
- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and developing RESTful APIs.
- Understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Familiarity with SQL queries, database design, and data management.
- Understanding of multithreading, concurrency, exception handling, and application performance optimization.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Familiarity with software testing, debugging, and code quality practices.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced engineering environment.
U.S. Work Authorization Requirements
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Applicants must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents (Green Card holders).
- Applicants must be able to provide appropriate documentation verifying their employment eligibility in accordance with applicable U.S. employment laws.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Apache Kafka or other event-streaming and messaging platforms.
- Familiarity with Apache Spark or distributed data processing frameworks.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized application development.
- Experience with Redis, MongoDB, or other NoSQL technologies.
- Understanding of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
- Exposure to high-volume data processing, vehicle telemetry, simulation platforms, or autonomous systems.
- Interest in artificial intelligence, robotics, automotive technologies, or software-defined vehicles.
Equal Employment Opportunity
We are committed to providing equal employment opportunities to qualified applicants. Employment decisions should be based on relevant qualifications, skills, experience, and business needs, without discrimination on any basis protected by applicable law.
