The Sensing Product
Design team is looking for a talented mechanical engineer to develop great experiences and bring Apple products to life. We are the team developing many of the sensors that changed the way people interact with their technology. Touch redefined the phone and tablet, Touch ID seamlessly secured them, and the heart rate monitor let you keep tabs on yourself.
In this role, you will be responsible for specifying, developing, characterizing, and validating touch sensing systems. You will own the end-to-end design, development, and validation of sensing technology into Apple’s portfolio of products. You will work with a talented multifunctional team to generate design concepts.
As the mechanical expert, you will be responsible for the engineering analysis and documentation for your piece of the project. At the end of the extraordinary team effort, your work will be in the hands of millions of people making a visible difference in their daily lives.
Hands-on experience in mechanical design, failure analysis, or product validation. Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and drafting 2D technical drawings (GD&T). Strong track record of applying structured root-cause methodologies and experimental design (DOE) to resolve complex electromechanical issues.
Ability and willingness to travel internationally (5%–10%) to support vendor bring-up and factory builds. Minimum requirement of a bachelor's degree
Proficiency in statistical analysis in MATLAB or JMP is preferred but not required. Familiarity with sensor technology, analog/digital signals, flex circuits, IC packaging is preferred but not required. Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills with the ability to articulate trade-offs and recommendations clearly.
