About this role

Apple’s keyboard is one of the most-used software applications in the world, enabling users to type billions of messages every day.

Our team creates the keyboard and text editing experience for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, including features such as AutoFill, QuickPath, QuickType, Writing Tools, etc., as well as shared text input technologies that empower text entry on all Apple platforms—iOS, macOS, tvOS, visionOS and watchOS—including frameworks and developer APIs.

We are looking for an enthusiastic engineering manager to lead the team, supporting our current experiences while also building the next generation of Keyboard and Text Input—one that is intuitive, personal, and inclusive of the world’s many languages and cultures, all while respecting each userʼs privacy.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage a team of developers working on text input-related projects to implement features that enable typing on all of Apple’s platforms.
  • Collaborate with Design, Engineering, Privacy, and Marketing to navigate cross-functional challenges and bring the next generation of input experiences to all Apple customers.
  • Build and grow a strong, diverse team, foster a healthy team culture, drive process improvements, and support team members’ career growth.
  • Drive and deliver innovative input solutions that take advantage of state of the art machine learning and hardware capabilities.

Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

3+ years of experience leading engineering teams (as an engineering manager or tech lead) with a proven track record of shipping software across the full product lifecycle

Experience in developing for Apple’s platforms in Objective-C and/or Swift

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience or interest in keyboard/text input concepts across different languages, such as Auto-Correction, composition, and transliteration

Experience or interest in software internationalization or localization

Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, and coding standards

Understanding or interest in non-English languages

Familiar with various QA & testing approaches, with a strong focus on high-quality software

Motivated to improve Apple’s products and deliver a high quality experience to customers
