About this role
Employer-provided description, formatted for easier reading.
Shape the future of spatial computing by building rendering technologies for Apple Vision Pro and next-generation vision products. As part of the RealityKit team, you'll architect and optimize systems that bring spatial media to life, transforming how millions experience immersive photos, videos, and 3D content in visionOS.
Develop high-performance rendering pipelines that blend digital content with the physical world, optimize GPU workloads for high visual fidelity, and build new techniques for spatial video playback and 3D media presentation. Your work will directly impact how users capture memories, consume entertainment, and interact with spatial content across Apple's vision ecosystem.
As a Media Pipeline Engineer on the RealityKit team, you'll architect and implement rendering systems that power spatial media experiences across visionOS and Apple Vision Pro.
You'll develop GPU pipelines for spatial photo and video playback, optimize real-time rendering of 3D content with techniques like foveated rendering and temporal reprojection, and collaborate with media frameworks, Metal, and hardware teams to maximize visual quality while maintaining smooth performance.
Your work will span the full rendering stack, from low-level shader optimization and memory management to high-level API design, giving developers powerful, intuitive tools to create spatial experiences. You'll tackle challenges like efficient multi-view rendering and integration of spatial media with virtual content, while meeting Apple's standards for performance and user experience.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience 5+ years of professional experience in real-time graphics programming, with exposure to media playback systems Strong proficiency in C++ and shader programming languages (Metal Shading Language, GLSL, or HLSL) Solid understanding of modern graphics APIs (Metal, Vulkan, or DirectX 12) and GPU architecture Familiarity with foveated rendering, temporal reprojection, or other advanced real-time rendering techniques Understanding of GPU texture management and efficient frame buffer handling, and experience optimizing rendering Proficiency with performance profiling tools like Instruments, RenderDoc, or similar GPU debuggers Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex rendering issues Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Graphics, or related field 7+ years of experience shipping media rendering features in high-profile consumer products Knowledge of spatial media formats, codecs, color spaces, and video decoding pipelines Experience with media frameworks such as AVFoundation, Core Media, or video encoding/decoding APIs Experience with stereoscopic or multi-view video rendering for VR/AR applications
