The AMR Payroll Compliance
Lead is a critical part of the team responsible for overseeing global payroll compliance, employment taxation, and payroll audit activities. This role provides essential due diligence and strategic guidance as we roll out new countries, tax jurisdictions, and locations.
Partnering closely with Payroll Operations, HR Employee Relations, Benefits, Corporate Tax, and Legal, we are seeking a highly autonomous operator with a desire to join a tech-savvy environment, a passion for streamlining and innovation, and the ability to confidently guide business partners toward compliant solutions.
Additionally, this role oversees the tax elements of our Business Traveler Compliance (BTC) program.
The primary focus of this role is leading regional and global payroll compliance efforts. This includes directing compliance for Benefit-in-Kind (BIK) reporting, auditing taxability treatment, supporting payroll audits, supporting audit outcomes and recommendations, documenting global public holidays, and supporting complex employment tax requirements.
The consultant will provide technical guidance on dynamic tax law changes and articulate compliance requirements to business partners for payroll system configuration. This role is crucial in interpreting payroll tax laws and providing strategic, firm guidance to protect the company from audit risk. Building a solid and trusted working relationship with the broader Operations team is a key expectation of this role.
Additionally, this role dedicates a portion of time (approximately 10-15%) to managing the tax compliance aspects of the Business Traveler Compliance (BTC) program. This requires a strong mobility tax background to navigate the increased complexity of hybrid and remote working models, as well as managing 3rd-party tax vendors.
10+ years of progressive experience in employment tax, payroll compliance, global mobility, or risk assurance (Big 4 or large multinational experience preferred). Proven leadership in managing complex global payroll audits and business traveler compliance programs. BA/BS in Tax, Accounting, Finance or equivalent.
Payroll and mobility experience in a high-volume, complex global environment. Familiarity with emerging technologies, automation, or AI tools to streamline compliance processes is a strong plus. CPA/CPP strongly preferred.
