The Language AI team, part of LUMIN&CE AI within Core Intelligence in Apple Services Core Data & Intelligence (CDI), builds the Generative AI and agentic capabilities that teams across Apple Services build on, taking them from early ideas to production systems that reach customers around the world.

As a member of Language AI, you will design and build AI and agentic capabilities that teams across Apple Services use to create, understand, and deliver content for customers in every market. You will work hands-on with the latest large language models, build agents that reason, plan, use tools, and improve their own work, and take them from first prototype all the way to production.

Many of the problems are still open, and you will help decide which ones we take on and how Generative AI is applied across Apple Services. If you want to shape how Generative AI and agents come to Apple Services across the Apple ecosystem of devices and platforms, this is the place to be.

• Have a major impact on how Generative AI shapes Apple Services experiences on more than a billion active Apple devices worldwide.
• Be part of a team with strong expertise in Large Language Models, Generative AI, Agentic Systems, Natural Language Processing, Software Engineering, and Scalable Systems.
• Be responsible for designing, developing, and improving Generative AI and agentic capabilities that other teams across Apple Services build on.
• Build reusable services and APIs that let partner teams adopt these capabilities quickly and scale them to new products, content, and markets.
• Build agentic systems that reason, plan, use tools, and review and improve their own output.
• Define what great output looks like, and build the evaluations that measure it and push quality higher.
• Turn new ideas from the Generative AI research community into production capabilities.
• Ensure successful deployment of features, code, data, and models in production.
• Work in collaboration with other world-class engineers, researchers, language experts, and partner teams across Apple Services to ensure the quality and performance of features and models.
• Support millions of devices globally
• On all devices (macOS, iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, watchOS, visionOS, Siri/HomePod)
• And dozens of languages (from Arabic to Russian and everything in between)

5+ years of relevant industry experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline

Strong programming skills in one or more of Python, Go, Scala, or Java

Hands-on experience building applications with Large Language Models

Experience with Machine Learning or Natural Language Processing techniques and related projects

Experience building scalable data pipelines, platforms, and production services

Experience building Agentic features, such as tool use, planning, and multi-agent workflows

Experience with prompt optimization, Retrieval Augmented Generation, and fine-tuning

Experience designing evaluations for generative systems, including LLM-as-a-judge

A track record of taking Generative AI capabilities from prototype to production, ideally as platforms or services that other teams build on

Curiosity about language and culture; fluency in a language besides English is a plus

Master's or PhD preferred.
