About this role

Employer-provided description, formatted for easier reading.

Are you passionate about building software systems that operate at massive scale? Do you thrive when tackling complex technical challenges where the path forward isn't always clear? As a Software Development Engineer III at AWS Cloudscape team, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of software systems that directly impact builders community at AWS.

You will own your team's architectural direction, balance competing constraints, and drive technical decisions that shape the future of the products you build. This role goes beyond writing code — you will mentor engineers, influence technical strategy across teams, and ensure the software your team delivers is well-designed, performant, and secure.

If you are a collaborative, curious, and self-motivated engineer who is ready to make a meaningful impact, we want to hear from you.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of multi-feature software systems across the full development lifecycle, from defining technical strategy through deployment and operational excellence.
  • Own your team's architectural direction by evaluating tradeoffs in scalability, maintainability, performance, and security, and guide future technology choices that align with broader organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with engineers across related teams to ensure cohesive system integration, driving alignment through inclusive technical discussions and written design artifacts.
  • Mentor and coach multiple engineers on your team and beyond, raising the engineering bar through exemplary coding practices, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
  • Apply generative artificial intelligence tools and techniques where appropriate to improve development workflows, and champion responsible, well-tested approaches to new technology adoption.
  • Influence product roadmap
