Do you want to help millions of customers protect their cloud workloads? The AWS security services team is building the next generation of security monitoring products that give customers a unified view of threats, risks, and compliance across multiple cloud environments.
As a Software Development Engineer II on this team, you will design and build integrations that connect internal and external services, ingest infrastructure metadata and security findings at scale, and solve complex problems around data correctness and cross-provider modeling differences.
With the rapid expansion of AI reshaping how customers manage security, there has never been a more compelling time to join — our team is investing heavily in delivering the right information, at the right time, with the right context so customers can understand risk and prioritize remediation faster.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and build service integrations using industry-standard authentication protocols such as OAuth and OpenID Connect (OIDC) to establish secure connectivity with internal and external platforms.
- Develop data ingestion pipelines that collect infrastructure metadata, context, and security findings across multiple cloud providers, solving challenges around scale, data correctness, and cross-provider modeling differences.
- Own requirements end-to-end by driving discussions with product, UX, console, and partner engineering teams to gather and clarify requirements, then translate them into designs, prototypes, and production-ready software.
- Mentor peers and junior engineers through thoughtful code reviews and design feedback, championing software quality best practices across the team.
- Own operational health for the services you build maintain alarms, dashboards, and runbooks, participate in on-call rotations, and ensure root causes of operational issues are permanently resolved.
A day in the life
You will operate with a high degree of independence on a roadmap-driven team. Some weeks you will be heads-down writing and testing code for a new integration; other weeks you will pair with product managers or partner engineers to prototype a solution and align on requirements. You will regularly review teammates' designs and code, sharing your perspective to raise the quality bar.
When operational issues arise, you will dig into metrics and logs to find permanent fixes rather than temporary workarounds.
About the team
Our team within AWS builds customer-facing security products that help organizations measure and manage their security posture across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). We are a growing group with a broad mix of experience levels, and we prioritize mentorship — expect thorough yet supportive code reviews and projects designed to stretch your skills.
Our mission over the coming years is to expand our monitoring capabilities so customers receive actionable, contextualized security insights in a single pane of glass that let them remediate risks faster and with greater confidence.
