About this role

Employer-provided description, formatted for easier reading.

At Amazon, security is one of our highest priorities. The Amazon Vulnerability Management Services (AVMS) organization is responsible for discovering vulnerabilities, assessing their risk, and ensuring remediation within SLA across all AWS and SDO. Within AVMS, the Discovery Insights Foundry (DIF) team serves as the central analytics and reporting platform for how security data is defined, governed, and consumed.

We are seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer to join the DIF team and help build AI-driven, executive-level leadership reporting that gives senior leaders real-time insight into the state of Vulnerability Management across AWS.

You will build a product from the ground up, spanning interactive data visualization, data analytics pipelines, AI-powered agent orchestration, MCP (Model Context Protocol) services, and team-level operational integration. The product will enable both a high-level organizational view and a drill-down capability for leaders to dive deep into specific areas.

This is a unique opportunity to combine full-stack software engineering with AI/ML, data engineering, and security domain expertise. The systems you build will be used by VP and Director-level leadership to make decisions that directly affect the security posture of the world's largest cloud provider.

Key job responsibilities

  • Architecture Design and Review
  • Software Feature development in Java and Python using AWS services (S3, Lambda, SQS, Fargate/ECS, EMR, Spark, etc.)
  • Setting and achieving a high bar for Operational Excellence
  • Earning trust in all directions; building partnerships with technical internal Amazon stakeholders WW
  • System resilience testing and preparation
  • Software project planning using Agile Methodologies (Scrum/Kanban)

A day in the life

You will work at the intersection of software engineering, data analytics, and AI. On a given day, you might build a new visualization component for the leadership dashboard, develop an AI agent that automates a weekly status report, write a data pipeline that merges vulnerability metrics from multiple upstream systems, or design an MCP service that enables other teams to integrate with your reporting platform.

You will partner closely with security engineers, data engineers, and program managers across AVMS to ensure leadership has a trusted, unified, and timely view of the organization's vulnerability posture.

The DIF team operates with a startup mentality inside a large organization. You will have direct impact on the product direction and will see your work in front of senior security leadership. The team values rapid iteration, creative problem-solving, and high-quality engineering.
