Job description

About this role

Amazon Braket is evolving to support fault-tolerant quantum computing, and we are looking for a Software Development Engineer who can build high-performance systems infrastructure for quantum workloads.

You will think about latency budgets, resource lifecycle, and how to make quantum hardware accessible through clean software abstractions to deliver solutions that serve researchers, enterprises, and developers running quantum experiments at scale.

If you have a background in distributed infrastructure or systems engineering and want to apply that expertise to a fundamentally new kind of computing, this role is for you.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design and implement interfaces that connect Braket's cloud infrastructure to quantum hardware with minimal overhead
  • Build session management, memory management, and execution control systems for quantum device interactions using AWS services
  • Collaborate with scientists and product teams to translate customer requirements into reliable, maintainable infrastructure
  • Optimize the critical path between customer workloads and quantum processors for low latency and high throughput
  • Contribute to the architectural evolution of Braket's execution stack, evaluating and integrating generative AI tools to accelerate development workflows

About the team

The Amazon Braket team builds and operates Amazon's quantum computing service, enabling customers to explore quantum algorithms, test hybrid workloads, and experiment with hardware from multiple providers. We are a collaborative group of engineers and scientists working at the intersection of cloud infrastructure and quantum technology.

As the field moves toward fault-tolerant quantum computing, you will have the opportunity to help shape the next generation of quantum cloud services.

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
  • 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
  • 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
