The Opportunity

Adobe seeks a leader to join our Global Government Relations and Public Policy team to advance our efforts in the UK, located in London. This leader will also support Adobe’s policy involvement in Ireland and the Middle East.

The team fosters a vibrant and enjoyable work atmosphere with outstanding opportunities to interact directly with governmental organisations, formulate policy positions, and assist Adobe’s operations. This role includes working alongside senior leaders, advising them, and designing engagement plans when appropriate. The position will report to the EMEA Director based in Germany.

We are seeking a creative and well-networked government relations professional who demonstrates initiative. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of digital policies in the UK as well as technology procurement policy procedures.

This position demands outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and a keen interest in technology policies, government IT modernisation, and the customer experience field.

Responsibilities

  • Development, coordination, and implementation of a successful government relations engagement strategy, including engagement planning for senior leaders.
  • Take ownership of Adobe's engagement with UK regulatory authorities on sensitive, active matters, working closely with Legal and senior collaborators and managing confidential communications.
  • Advocate for policy changes that are good for our employees, customers, and business generally.
  • Handle resources to accomplish the goals of the organisation including outside consultants and trade associations.
  • Work autonomously and engage with senior leadership to drive impact.
  • Ensure Adobe is well positioned and follows all relevant regulations and requirements.
  • Develop and advocate for external policy positions which improve Adobe’s position in the marketplace.
  • Develop monitoring and reporting processes to ensure policies and issues that impact Adobe are flagged and mitigated where possible.
  • Responsibility for delivering successful outcomes and maintaining high levels of internal and external partner happiness.
  • Assist Adobe’s local teams based in the UK in every aspect of their work.
  • Aid Adobe's local groups in the Middle East (with emphasis on KSA and UAE) whenever needed; this is not encouraged to be the main allocation of time.
  • Build on and deepen relationships with policy experts, internal teams, trade association personnel, and government decision-makers.
  • Align with Adobe's Global Public Policy team on overarching narratives and positions, tailoring messaging and engagement approach to fit the specific dynamics of the UK market.
  • Drive Adobe’s Government Relations involvement in public sector sales/procurement activities in UK/I & Middle East.
  • Promote procurement and digital government policies that advance the customer experience and the digital service delivery provided by government.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of confirmed experience in successful government engagement
  • Comprehensive, direct experience with government policies and procedures in the UK
  • Experience engaging with government or regulatory bodies on a sensitive, high-stakes matter requiring discretion and confidentiality
  • Direct knowledge of political structures and functions, and sound understanding of how to appropriately engage with political and external policy development bodies and parties
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to translate complicated technical concepts into a compelling, succinct case for political outreach
  • Strong self-starter, comfortable working autonomously while building consensus and collaboration with top executives internally
  • Capability to guide through influence rather than official power: forming alliances and attaining outcomes with internal and external partners who are not your direct reports. You will think and act both strategically and creatively.
  • Dedication to quick results balanced with the vision to see how long-term strategies need to unfold
  • Genuine passion for the positive role government can play in society, and a strong desire to help improve it
  • Curiosity and adaptability to grow alongside Adobe's expanding business as it accelerates
  • Knowledge of policy dynamics in the Gulf region (KSA/UAE) and Arabic language skills are a plus, but not required
  • High command of English and preferably another European language
